Frequently Asked Questions

How is the value of my farm scrap metal calculated?

Transparent pricing starts at the scales. At MPH Metal Recycling, scrap metal is priced by the ton. Every load is taken across certified scales, and you receive the weight ticket with your cheque. No guessing.

Why ask for weight tickets?

A weight ticket shows the exact weight of your scrap, so you can see the true value, and operational cost, and know you’re being paid fairly. Without a weight ticket, you have no way of knowing what you actually earned per ton.

What time of year is the best time to sell my farm scrap?

Winter cleanups can remove large equipment, but the snow often hide smaller pieces of steel. Magnets just can't pull all the smaller metal debris from the ice and frozen ground.

Winter Cleanups = Spring Leftovers.

Do some scrap metal companies pay "by the load"?

Yes, but by the load is not a unit of measurement. What is a load? Is that a 20 ton load or 35 ton a load? Price per ton is the most accurate way of identifying the value of your metal. It ensures you’re paid for what your material actually weighs — not for what someone estimates it to be.

Do some scrap metal companies pay "by the job"?

Yes.

In some cases, scrap removal is quoted as a flat-rate job rather than being priced by weight. It’s important to understand the difference. When scrap is bundled into a flat removal price, the value of the material itself can become secondary to the cleanup cost.

At MPH, we focus on both:
• A thorough cleanup
• Fair market value based on weight

You shouldn’t have to sacrifice value just to have scrap removed.

Strategic onSite Management

What does strategic onsite management mean?

The approach taken to identifying the safety hazards, ground disturbance issues, best work area, and having the best attitude to achieve zero contamination to your site.  We treat your property with the same respect we give our own.

Is scrap metal recycling a demolition practice or recovery practice?

It can be both.

Some material requires cutting and breakdown to remove safely. Other material can be extracted and recovered more cleanly with minimal handling.

Experience matters in knowing the difference.

At MPH, the objective is to recover as much value as possible while limiting unnecessary debris and overhandling. The result is a safer, cleaner, more efficient job.

Why work directly with MPH?

There’s no middleman.

You deal directly with the operator who:
• Answers the phone
• Schedules the job
• Does the work
• Hands you your cheque

Fewer layers. Fewer unnecessary miles built into the job. Clear communication from start to finish.

Steel priced by the ton.
Weight tickets with every cheque.
No contracts. No rush jobs. No leftover mess.
